On Thursday, 15 September 2022, hon SE Manqele of the ACDP moved as follows:
This House notes:
That we are alarmed by a recent report on the latest crime statistics in South Africa which revealed that KwaZulu-Natal is the country's most deadly province; and
That out of the 6 424 murder cases reported between April and June of 2022, an alarming number of 1 623 cases had occurred in KwaZulu-Natal.
This House therefore resolves:
To urgently address this matter by calling on the province and the Legislature to embark on Stop Crime campaigns, and
To collect illegal firearms from individuals and affected communities to help push back the rampant crime within our province.
8.2 Debate on the Report of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts International Study Tour to Singapore from 5 to 11 September 2022 as tabled to the House on 18 April 2023;
8.3 Debate on the Report of the Premier Portfolio Committee International Study Tour to the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Uganda, 17 September 2022 as tabled to the House on 18 April 2023; and
8.4 Debate on a matter of Urgent Public Importance [SR111] pertaining to the South African Human Rights Commission Report titled âKZN Water Enquiry Report, Durban, August 2022.â
