The Legislature is holding the voter education campaign in Umdoni and Ray Nkonyeni Local Municipalities both under Ugu District Municipality. Each of the two local municipalities that are being visited have dedicated delegations of Members coming from all political parties represented in the Legislature.
They are being accompanied by Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and Department of Home Affairs, who are doing voter education, voter registration and allowing the public to check and update their details on the Voters’ Roll, while Home Affairs focuses mainly on first time ID applicants and renewals of damaged or lost IDs.
The public has shown a huge enthusiasm in the campaign as they have come out in numbers to join the Legislature in its drive to enhance democracy in South Africa.
