SUBJECT: THE PASSING AWAY OF THE CHAIRPERSON OF COMMITTEES – HON NKULULEKO NTUTHUKO GODFREY MAHLABA

It is with profound sadness that I inform you of the passing of Hon Dr NNG Mahlaba a Member of the KwaZulu Natal Legislature representing the African National Congress from August 2022 until his passing. He passed on earlier today.

He was currently serving as Chairperson of Committees thus a presiding Officer and member of the Strategic Leadership. and sat in various other committees. During his tenure as MPL, he served as a Member of the Executive Council responsible for Human Settlements and Public Works from August 2022 to May 2023 and Sports, Arts and Culture from May 2023 to 2024 May. He has also served in the Local Government Sphere as a PR Cllr then elected Mayor of Newcastle Local Municipality from 2019-2021. Prior to occupying the aforesaid public offices Dr Mahlaba has served the community of Amajuba as a medical doctor in the Newcastle area.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the entire Mahlaba family, his wife Dr Mahlaba, his children, friends and his comrades in the ANC at this sad time. May we remember them in our thoughts and prayers.
