The Records Management Sub-section assist the Legislature to ensure that it complies with the National Archives and Records Act, KZN Archives and Records Services Act, Promotion of Access to Information Act and other relevant legislations. Like other organizations and/or institutions, it creates records while executing its operations or constitutional mandate. It ensures that the institution has policies and procedures which guide the creation, preservation and disposal of records.
The records section ensures that all staff create and file records according to the file plan for effective retrieval of records, records of the institution are well kept and safe, there is systematic disposal of non-archival records in line with the Act, there are registries whereby records are kept, assist in the promotion of access to information by ensuring availability of records always whenever necessary, and preservation of records to keep track of all the decisions taken and be accountable for all its operations.
